Dr. Diane Foley attended medical school at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. She previously studied biology as an undergraduate and also in graduate school, receiving a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington.
After medical school she did an internship and a residency in anesthesia, both within the University of California system. She has been board certified in anesthesia since 1986.
Her lifetime fascination with Asian cultures led her to try acupuncture treatments as a patient, and after experiencing its effects herself she pursued formal training in acupuncture. She trained first in French Energetics acupuncture (also called “Medical Acupuncture”) with the Helms Medical Institute, then studied Five Element Acupuncture with Neil Gumenick at the Institute of Five Element Acupuncture in Santa Monica. She also studied with Edward Neal, of the Xinglin Institute, taking his course “Introduction to NeiJing Studies.”
After more than 30 years of hospital-based anesthesia practice, she has opened an office-based practice limited to acupuncture. Dr. Foley’s practice at the Centre for Life clinic has a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere where patients can receive the time and attention they deserve. She enjoys treating a wide variety of whole body, medical and pain-related conditions. Her patients have benefited from her gentle and relaxing treatments. Dr. Foley believes that adding acupuncture to modern Western medical treatments can create a healthcare environment that enhances wellness.
